Well, here's one...

I'm sure the EPA is full of bloat like most other federal agencies but in this case, I wouldn't throw the baby out with the bath water. I think we need national standards for the environment.

Air quaility was the genesis for the EPA.
Thank Richard Nixon.

National standards? Holy shit, I can't believe there are people out there that think the federal government should rule the states.
Here is the standard for the feds to regulate "yellowstone" our national park.
Sedan 1-6 passengers $25, plus $12 a person
Van 7-15 passengers $125 (no per person fee)
Minibus 16-25 passengers $200 (no per person fee)
Motorcoach 26 or more passengers $300 (no per person
When will people realise that the fed wants the money and that's the bottom line for their regulation of anything?
The EPA is no different, they want the compliance money, they want the application money, they want the big dollars that companies pay to exceed their allotment of green house gasses.
Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.

I didn't realize the EPA has GLOBAL authority and regulatory powers.
BTW - How's the "Cap and Trade" doing on the home front? That was Obama's environmental push during his election bid.
I can't remember how many jobs it's created, how many homes have been saved and how much it's contributed to deficit reduction.
I wish the EPA had global authority.
Damn, I make one comment about the democrats and the housing bubble and and another post turns in to us vs. them.
As far as cap and trades goes, I see it as an effort to reduce emissions. Obama sold it as a "job creator"...meh, hasn't happened but I still support a push for green energy. While for many people it's all about jobs and the economy right now, the environment is still important to me (at the risk of some job loss). I pulled up this random piece from the epa website:
Since its inception in 1990, the cap and trade component of the Acid Rain Program (ARP) has reduced SO2 emissions from power plants by 10 million tons (more than 60 percent).

As I said in an earlier post, I lived in Southern California many years ago and the smog was so thick (especially in the valleys) you could SEE it. It was awful.
It's totally different now. I shudder to think what it would be like if we'd just continued down that path.

Somebody forgot that they will be regulated, sell your car, you won't be able to afford to use it.
I forget, wasn't climate change debunked? of course it was, but that won't stop the Government from regulating you because of it.
NEW RULES ARE PHASED IN
EPA announced December 23 that it will propose greenhouse gas pollution limits for power plants in July 2011 and for oil refineries in December 2011. Final rules will be issued the following year.
The standards will set levels of pollutants that these industries may emit under the Clean Air Act, the federal law that grants EPA the authority to protect U.S. air quality.
Earlier in 2010, the EPA announced that all new or expanding factories that require Clean Air Act permits to operate must account for greenhouse gas emissions in their permits starting in January 2011 if their operations may release more than 75,000 tons of emissions. Industries regulated under the Clean Air Act must install state-of-the-art technology to limit emissions if they start new operations or modify existing plants.
Beginning in July 2011, any facility that releases more than 100,000 tons of greenhouse gases will need a permit to operate. EPA has said the permitting rules will initially affect some 1,450 factories nationwide.
The state of Texas says new federal emissions rules will hurt its large oil refinery industry. The rigorous permitting process has historically allowed federal and state governments to reduce other types of air pollution. The plan is now to use this process — along with new pollution standards — to control greenhouse gases that cause climate change.

It was not my intent to derail your thread. Not supporting the EPA does not, in my mind, always translate into anti- environment sentiment.
I'm not sold on the EPA as the panacea for saving the environment. I own a LEED certified home, my businesses are mostly green and fair-trade responsible, as are my investments.
If I believe the KKK should be eliminated, it does not mean that I am pro-minority or anti-white. The same is true with the elimination of the NAACP.
That was my point with the "killing" of the EPA.
And the "Cap and Trade" market responsible for the reduced "acid rain" sulphur was initially voluntary participation. Now it is commercially traded on an exchange.
A market . . . not a governmental solution. Industry read the tea leaves and responded.

Tiki, the liberal mind has to be controlled, they believe themselves unable to regulate themselves and they demand that everyone be regulated in like manner.
It's the majority being ruled by the minority, I have never seen such a bunch of horse shit.

She leaves me with the impression that she has more important things to concern herself with rather than the environment, that it's not even on her list of priorities.
They {Washington} spend all their time arguing amongst themselves. They can't even find a way to come together to work for the people that put them in office. I'm glad the election is so far away, if it were tomorrow I wouldn't even vote & my opinion on that might not even change in the coming months.

Oh well, threads always get derailed in here.
I see your point. If Michelle Bachmann has an alternative that wouldn't negatively impact the environment/emissions, I'd certainly be willing to consider it. I just don't want to throw out national standards.

I'm not surprised you didn't understand what I just said, and it really is no surprise that you try to silence me.
Just about every fucking regulation that causes "us" the people of this country to pay more, has decreased jobs in the lumber, mining and manufacturing sector of this country, the regulations that have turned us into a consumer nation with our jobs being shipped off shore, has decreased our GNP, and our GDP to the point where we can't sustain ourselves, has put us into an economic free fall, devalued our dollar and our ability to compete around the world can be traced back to the liberals and their agenda.

I don't have to answer your fucking ignorant questions about liberalism and who promotes the liberal agenda in here.
but here is a clue for the clueless, if they are for big government, government regulations that exceed Constitutional boundaies, granting the federal government powers that regulate the states and usurp states rights, they are liberals.

No, you don't but you should be able to back up your claims. The reality is, there are no liberals in here, it's all in your head, a figment of your imagination.
