We are told that Maricopa is a top notch place for her treatment.

Her first intensive debriding will begin tomorrow. Can't imagine how that will go when the Moriphine doesn't even bring enough relief for any type of reprieve. She is one of a set of identical twins. (Not sure if that came out right) It is amazing to see them care for one another and provide solace.

That's not entirely true.

I get the whole thing about asking strangers on the internet to pray for so and so and why it's annoying. The thing is if she or he would have left the part out about sending prayers most of us would have sent the niece well wishes anyway. And the few holy rollers would have sent prayers anyway. It's the point that the prayers were asked for. If that was left out I can imagine Crash saying something more along the lines of "that sucks, hopes she recovers soon" or just nothing at all.

I almost hid the thread in a private forum, I thought, oh my gods, what if the neighbors see.

If a random stranger walked up to you in the street and said "my niece has just been in a bad accident, would you mind having a coffee with me so I can tell you all about it in a nonchalant way, make it all about me and get some faux sympathy from you" what would you say?

If it was a friend of a few years who was genuinely upset by the event and they knocked in your door, sure, come in dude, take a load off..

Anyway, carry on. It's amusing. Half the motherfuckers that say they're going to send prayers in these type of threads only type it and forget about it. They don't kneel beside their bed and add a "oh and please baby Jesus, send some love to the poor little burnt girl in Arizona" to their prayers, if they even say them in the first place. They just jump on the bandwagon to be part of it. Make themselves feel better that they cared.

Except OTD, I bet she genuinely prayed.

I'd be a mess if that happened my kid.

Most people are inclined to be more emotional about kids. It's in our nature to want to protect them. Marketing/scammers/religion/politicians/charities have been taking advantage of that for centuries. How the fuck do you have any idea about peoples praying habits. You're such a judgmental prick sometimes. I know when I see something like that, it's an instant reaction. My first thought was...OMG, how horrible!! Please God, send that little girl some kind of comfort to help her get through this. I didn't think...I'm gonna pray for that girl, but not until I go eat me a sammich or whatever.

Personally, I'm not one to solicit thoughts or prayers from anyone (not even from people that I love -- it's up to them to respond however they see fit about something that I tell them and I don't count on wishes and prayers to accomplish anything anyway).

But, I don't feel like a sucker or anything for giving people what they want if I'm sincere about it, and I don't care how others respond to such a request or feel about how I respond to such a request.

And, I'd expect to be sincerely asked to essentially fuck off by some if I requested thoughts and prayers from strangers. You can't always get what you want when you toss out details of your personal life to others who are honest. That should be a given for any astute adult in any situation.

Anyway, I don't think an honest "fuck off" is any less compassionate than a bullshit obligatory thought, wish, or prayer. But, I don't presume that any thought, wish or prayer offered is bullshit either.
