3.to set as an opponent or adversary.
4.to be hostile or adverse to, as in opinion: to oppose a resolution in a debate.
5.to set as an obstacle or hindrance.
It's a verb (which by definition predicates or expresses action), moron.
Being an atheist requires no action. It is simply a belief that something does not exist. It's not opposing; it's failing to acknowledge.
By your logic, I bet you'd define "apathy" as opposing too...
