I hate being an asshole about it, but I hope to shock some people into thinking. Most people avoid discussions of race because it is uncomfortable. I feel badly for the black folks I know and love because I know they are decent people but they get judged along with their brothers. They know it, too. It pisses them off EVERY time.
I think the problem IS financial. Most financial problems (before the effen economy tanked) are behavioral. People just don't end up living in a shithole. Many people I know who were born poor are doing OK now.
Fucked up behaviors prevalent in some cultures causes financial problems. Instead of whining and expecting someone else to take care of your shit for you, do something about it. Work harder. Educate yourself. Fucking behave and stay out of trouble.
We need to stop paying people to be sorry. The help isn't going to be there for people who need it through no fault of their own.
I can't retire on SS until I'm effen 67. I will have worked full time for 54 years by the time I'm 67. That's two full careers and a couple odd years hobbling around with varicose veins.
