The quote above lightly touches on the fact, that welfare has turned into more than just a temporary support system. Rather, it has become a way of life. It was never designed or implemented to be a long term solution. So why the fuck are these people consistently living off the system all their lives?
While working in the criminal justice system, it is apparent that the majority (not the ones who truly need welfare) are just lazy scammers that feel it is owed to them. They have dropped out of school, and followed in their parents footsteps. Using a plethora of ridiculous excuses while collecting such as, asthma, being illiterate, and even having a mental illness where none exists.
But the best part! When my partner and I questioned a guy we arrested one time about why he was collecting welfare. He bluntly told us, it was owed to him. Nice!
