Look, trolls can argue this until pigs fly but there is a difference between trolling & mocking. I'm not going to tolerate trolling here, I know what it does to a site.

Of course there is a difference, no self-respecting troll will state otherwise.
OTOH, it is oh so very easy to just label over-the-top or inconvenient behavior "troll" and be done with it without a second thought. That's a slippery slope, one I've seen quite a number of board owners / staff get onto when they get tired of dealing with non-conforming individuals.

I have no idea what Gear's reasons were, but neither do you. If there was no behind-the scenes communication, as you said, then you most certainly don't know if he tried to troll, had a real bad day, bore LC a grudge, felt too secure in his position to realize you meant business, or whatever other reason one might come up with. This means, basically, you got pissed off by his behaviour and him ignoring your warnings, so you banned him. That's cool, it's your board. What I don't like is people in charge using the troll card when there is no indication that this was the intended purpose.

Let me reiterate, the rules were written with intelligent people in mind,

Well, some people have shown you that obviously, some rules are not as clear as you think they are, and I am not talking about obvious trolls, but longstanding members like sally. As for nitpicking - I, for once, just want to be perfectly clear what goes and what doesn't. I've never been to a mock site, or a flame site, or whatever else there is (I AM familiar with trolling, hence my adversion against false labels), and I have not read the majority of threads in here, so I actually DO have to ask questions about where the line is. If you want to interpret that as nitpicking, well, so be it.

Mock is segregated. I don't want just anyone in my real life neighborhood & the same applies to Mock. I type that knowing it will be an unpopular comment, some people are good enough, others will never be. That's just a general comment and not directed towards any one person.[/i][/size]

Now this is more like it. It translates to don't piss me off or get banned. Straight-forward, honest, and without loop-holes. That I can deal with.
