I can bait my own hook, but I don't like to use any life form higher in the evolutionary scale than worms (yes, that does make Brother 'fair game'). I usually have a twinge of guilt though, and I have to wash the worm slime off my fingers right away, cause that's just nasty. Then when I actually catch a fish, I try to be as gentle with it as I can, and release it.

I wish fishing didn't involve so much damned suffering for critters, I would enjoy it a lot more. You can keep the beer though... blech.
