I have a fairly uniform view of Hollywood but it has two perspectives. The one is the content, the other is the acting. As for content, give me a book any day, but sometimes the acting can be superlative.

Some people in Hollywood movies just can't act, you can scan an entire career and nothing shows up that would outclass a college video. Charlton Heston for instance.

Other actors though. Fred Astaire, right the way through the 30s and still getting it right in On the Beach. And the same for Cagney all the way to Ragtime. Both dancers. Coincidental.

The stage sometimes throws up a wildcard amazing performer, I much prefer the stage. I saw Sutton Foster last year in Anything Goes and she had every reason to be so confident.

On the other hand I've no idea when I last saw any Cracker Barrel in a retail food outlet. It ought to still be around, I want to check if it's as good as I remember.]]>

And I thought, "Huh, that's a fun Friday night" and fired up my trusty keyboard, begged the almighty Google to lead me here, and voila, here I am! Having done a bit of a semi-deep dive into the content (Yes, I've been snooping), I found a shocking level of honesty and thought, "Why the hell not?"

Now, don't get me wrong, my interest in crime is mostly confined to the popcorn-chomping, armchair detective sort. Actual crime-doing? Not my cup of tea. I mean, I'm so fucking clean, I make freshly fallen snow look dirty. Seriously, not even a single speeding ticket or moving violation to my name. I even pay my taxes. All of them. I know, revolting!!  The extent of my criminal record involves a few parking tickets, but hey, we all have our rebellious phases, right?

I'm all for live trial watching when time permits, and while I don't endorse the death penalty (I'm of the "An eye for an eye leaves everyone blind" school of thought), I'm not exactly advocating for cuddle parties in prison either. My version of "hang 'em high" simply translates to life behind bars with no hope of tasting freedom again. A tad to soft, you say? Maybe. But I've seen you lot handle worse and I've only been here less than 24 hours. 

Now, I need to be clear, I'm steadfast in my anti-death penalty stance.  But GOD DAMN when I hear about those who've harmed kids, there's a part of my brain that momentarily vacations in a land where poetic justice exists. It's just a fleeting stress busting daydream, mind you... and at the end of the day, I'm all for life sentences.

Well, fuck, I wrote a novel as usual.  It's a bad habit, sorry.   Well, that's my rant. Brace yourselves, folks. This newbie's here to stay.. uh.. if you'll have me, that is.
