That's why we are here, we don't get upset, let it fly, and everybody is ok with that. Well, almost everybody.

My feelings about Israel actually started a few years back when they kicked the shit out of Palestine the last time. You take a people, put walls and barbed wire around them, control every little shit that goes on in their camp, what they get, what they don't, don't let them go fishing, etc. It's like freakin' Alcatraz. Fair enough, do it, they sure know how to kick ass, but then at the same time go on crying for over 60 years and having no problem with their constant whinging in exchange for cash or any sort of aid, I mean why doesn't Belgium do the same?

Israel got Atomic weapons for fucks sake. They could turn the whole middle east into one massively marvelous mirror. Coming from where they did, they should know what it means to be treated like shit, yet, they obviously don't give a fuck about anybody else but themselves. Sad to say, but judging from Moses already, it seems to be in their blood. Just like growing up in Germany and thinking "Those poor black guys in South Africa, what's up with all that Apartheid crap?!" until I actually lived in Africa and somehow started to understand how those Boers started thinking that way. It was different times, most certainly, and one thing for sure, not every Thabo or Kamau is a Denzel Washington. Rarely have I seen cruelty on such a level from human to human than in Africa among blacks. So yeah, white man came, if I don't keep you down, they fucking slice me up, what to do?!

My point being, it took me actually to live there to find some sort of understanding. Same with Israel. Once I actually met Israelis, worked with them, experienced them, sure, mainly they were diplomatic staff, so they are already different, I guess, from your average Efraim walking down an alley in Tel Aviv, but yes, those are actually the political boys, so I could imagine exactly that kind making the decisions over there, and my oh my, did I meet arrogance.

With the power Israel has, considering the power they have over that small place called Gaza, couldn't they work together? Promote business, create income, stability, a future? Here in Yemen, the US has realized some time ago that the main problem they are having with Al Qaeda, or any other such organization, is simply economy. Young people don't have jobs, can not provide for their loved ones, don't see a future, it doesn't matter if somebody comes along from Al Qaeda, ISIS, Boko Haram or the LA Lakers, and offers him 200$, that person will happily follow wherever the money is pointing him.

People simply want a life worth living. Give them that, and instantly you eradicate 80% of extremists.

Except if they grow up with too much it seems, as is shown by the young boys from the States, UK, pretty much anywhere, who jump onto the first plane to join their brothers in Syria or Iraq. Human nature, so confusing and entertaining.

Now, time for another Warsteiner! Smiley_emoticons_smile

Sure, you'd think so. He's not got you confined to a parking lot.

I'd still treat Mo to a beer though, I guess. I agree with him on many, not all, of his points here. Hell, even if I didn't agree with him at all, I'm always up for buying a Pal a Stein. Cheers

This morning's news outlets are all running this:

Following the quick collapse of the cease-fire in Gaza, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the White House not to force a truce with Palestinian militants on Israel.

Sources familiar with conversations between Netanyahu and senior U.S. officials, including Secretary of State John Kerry, say the Israeli leader advised the Obama administration "not to ever second guess me again" on the matter. The officials also said Netanyahu said he should be "trusted" on the issue and about the unwillingness of Hamas to enter into and follow through on cease-fire talks.

In addition, Netanyahu reportedly pointed a finger at Qatar for not being able to get Hamas to concede.

That's the type of arrogance to which Mo refers and I've alluded to upthread. Bibi rubs me way wrong. Then again, most politicians do.

I agree with all that except the Warsteiner. I tried it once and thought it was an awful tasting beer.

Well, given that I am a health professional and am into promoting health I am hardly going to support an action that is contrary to that.

I don't think your suggestion is the solution. I say, this can be negotiated with communication and restraint. It won't be achieved with violence. Nothing will be achieved by violence. Maybe they need so much violence to realise that nothing is being achieved. Lives are being lost on both sides, it is achieved nothing. Both sides are losing, and both sides are losing those close to them. Don't support that kind of solution, it's crazy and you won't get what you are after by this action.

I think referring to Moses as the worst person in 'history' is a lot like putting Lex Luthor on America's Most Wanted list. Being raised Christian, I believe in the Bible almost as much as the next guy... but I don't believe a guy in ancient history lived to be 120 years old or that the Earth was made in 144 hours.

That's silly.

The Riddler should be on the list though.

He's a real menace.

Yes it can and it looks like it will for the immediate future. Israel just hit an area near another UN school. Reports indicate 10 Palestinians dead and others trapped in the rubble.

It's tragic and I wish it would end, but neither side is ready to pull back and change course at this time.

God HoTD, are you going to disagree with me on this point? Yes of course, the death toll will rise and may become more gruesome than we can ever imagine. I don't think that Mohammed's sentiments are unusual, in fact, in some parts, it might be considered quite moderate and restrained. War is the problem, peace is the solution. It does sound simplistic and I don't mean to trivialize it , but the lack of accepting responsibility and the support for the death and violence is quite astonishing.

Hasn't there been discord between these people since the beginning of time?

Neither side wants to give an inch. When you have people who won't consider a compromise then we need to let them live with what they've got. They say they know what is best for themselves so let them have at it. I'm starting to not care what they do to each other.

I never question anymore why our country is so hated. I know why.

Look, when you repeatedly post insightful declarations like "war is bad, peace is good", "both sides are losing people", "these people should talk and achieve peace" -- whilst critiquing posts which actually provide first hand perspectives and passionate opinions -- I might jump off one of your deep thoughts and share an update or something.

You'll live to post again. I just know it.

As for Mo, he didn't say "kill the Jews!". He thinks Israel is in the wrong here so he says "fuck Israel!". I don't think his unfiltered opinion expressed on this forum is propagating war or anything.

This all goes back to Islam and Judaism.

Moderate Muslims will of course live in peace, Muslim extremists will not.

Palestinians and Jews both come from this conflicted area. They could live in peace, however, when one side (Jews) holds the upper hand in wealth, education and power, everything will not be equitable.

I feel for regular, ordinary Palestinians who have very little future. A very difficult life awaits, while regular, ordinary Jews have bright futures.

Hamas basically says we will not rest unt Israel is gone.

I don't believe it'll ever end while they're trying to live in the same area together.

I was reading about one Palestinian woman who had worked and saved for 10 yrs. to buy her home, she evacuated when the bombings became so bad only to return to find her home in rubble. It's her and the people like her that I feel so sorry for. So many of them only want the same things you and I have.

I was just reading something that Maggot referred to the other day and that's about the construction materials that were allowed into Gaza ("allowed" because they've been under a seven year blockade) and used to build the tunnels. As I read more & more I see consistently that the information regarding much of this "news" is attributed to "Israel said". No one ever seems to question it and I can't help but wonder why.

AND...the deaths of the three teens that prefaced all of this, Hamas denies kidnapping & murdering them, they were found on land that Israel controls and Israel is who said Hamas is responsible. Again with the, Israel says.
