COOKWARE, BITCHES

You never wash cast iron with soap. If it's really messy you can scrub it with course salt and water. Just make sure it's dried thoroughly and rub a little oil over it with a paper towel before putting it away

Hmmmm...but it says it has rust spots. That's how I ruined my last one. My mom has a great cast iron skillet and she pretty much only ever wipes it out as far as I know. I guess soap and cast iron don't go together well. I need to get a new one and keep it away from the Dawn dish soap I think.

That particular pan would be an excellent one with just a little care, your grandkids would like it.

I think I would buy a new skillet, not the above one. I have Emeril (o.k.) not great, but mostly my fault for neglecting to season and clean properly, On Consumer Search, the Lodge brand is mentioned a lot. I have a smaller one which I don't use as often as the 12" one. Several years ago, a friend gave me an old Italian recipe for toffee which is made in an iron skillet. It is very good and everyone likes it. Prior to that, my toffee would always turn to sugar. Who knew you could make candy in iron skillet?

I have the Lodge brand. Inexpensive and has never rusted out on me, not even the time my mom (who didn't know how to boil an egg) put it through the dishwasher.

Lodge is good stuff, but even their stuff has sand cast finish inside. The older stuff is polished which is a better surface to cook on. Properly seasoned its almost as non stick as T-Fal

I just came across some brick, probably a couple hundred at least, free. Should I go get it? hah

When you say walkway brick are you referring to pavers?

These are used brick, building brick in great shape, I'm thinking they were leftovers from quite a long time ago because they are in a weathered pile in an overgrown area. I say they look fantastic because they have been weathered, I see the character in it, others may see junk because it's not new and flawless.

I got the Professor an entire pile of those copper kettle ceramic cookware things for Christmas. I thought she would be pissed but she loves them. She said she will be tossing the crappy teflon pans ASAP. And cleaning out the rif-raf.

I hope my person grows old with me but I might be left dry, she's even older than I am.

It's kinda weird to see this after so many years. My person died 2.5 years ago, not from old age tho. :(
