THE AMERICAN FLAG
#41
28 You're off the rails, pappy.

I can post whenever and however I see fit, as can you. No one has ever threatened to ban you. Nobody's trying to stop you from posting your opinions just because not all of us agree with your take. People here haven't demanded that you shut the fuck up. That kind of bullshit is your M.O. alone. Take off the tinfoil hat once in a while and give your brain some air.

Besides, I wasn't speaking for all soldiers or people around the world like you were. I posted what the former and active service men and women said THEMSELVES last year. They're more qualified to tell me and other people who actually listen what they think and feel than you are to do so on their behalves.

So..........the flag still has different meanings to different people, including between and among people who've served and people who haven't, pappy. Spazzing out on me doesn't change that fact.

But, plenty of others do so because they like the idea of warfare, or for job opportunities, or other personal reasons.............and too many in both camps go untreated when active duty leaves them traumatized.

I've commented in a couple of the crime forum threads about how many of the mass, spree and cop killers over the last several years have been veterans.

Anyway, the flag doesn't mean the same thing to all people being served. And, the flag doesn't mean the same thing to everyone serving; that was clear during the 2016 election cycle. When candidate Trump threatened to make flag desecration a federal crime again, some active service members and veterans applauded his proposal -- they see desecrating the symbol as dangerous to national pride, disrespectful to their service, and something that should be prohibited by law.

At the same time, other current and former members of the U.S. military loudly opposed and protested Trump's proposal -- they see flag burning as constitutionally-protected free speech and expression, a key principle of what the flag means to them and why they chose to serve.

you don't know shit.

when you hold the children of a fallen soldier during his funeral, let us know how you feel.

when you go to friends house in the middle of the night to stop him from harming himself or his family, tell us all about your feelings

when you have a knock down drag out bloody knuckle fight with a friend because he doesn't know who you are and feels threatened, by all means express your feelings.

till then shut the fuck up you hypocrite.

i have done all those things more times then i care to remember. until you do that you won't have a clue what those soldiers think.

Pappy, You are a self righteous prick...you do not own the exclusive right to speak for all military personnel....i have said before I grew up next to a military reservation and worked there for years, the last 5 years before changing careers, at a military prison. CTF (Correctional Training Facility) and this was during Viet Nam era when many who were drafted went AWOL, etc.....I didn't blame them much as a mother.....Just about every week, I took a casserole to a neighbor to help out someone who had just had loved one die in VN, and at least twice a month, a co-worker (military) and/or friend was wounded or killed. I saw some after they were sent to Irwin Army Hospital to recover from some serious injuries and were unable to return to active duty.....We all have different stories and we all have a right to different perspectives. Why are you so defiant and full of rage? The insults are uncalled for....reminds me of someone in the White House.....and yes "he" is a despicable man and I don't need evidence. His behavior is on display every day for the whole World to see...You would have to be dumber than a brick to not see his obnoxious behavior....and yet you continue to badmouth Ms. Clinton....why don't you provide some proof of her lying....you read and choose to believe what fits with your agenda.....she has received a bad rap for a long time and although she is not perfect, I believe she truly cares about people, families and children. ......and we would be a hell of a lot better off with her at the helm instead of dumbass.

In summary, I think you may have a problem with women, as you seem to favor them when you hurl your illogical, insulting rhetoric on this forum.....

Please don't comment and try to impress anyone with your supreme intelligence as I just will never buy it. I am just too sweet to throw insults your way just because we disagree....try not to have a hissy fit when you post.....you will live longer....

Your kid’s kids will care far less about grandad’s ‘funny’ tradition. Their kids won’t even know where you’re buried. Way of the world.

And the stars on the flag will be Youtubers and Tiktokers. And the now brown stripes will be scratch and sniff and smell like beef or poo.

Tiktok will be in the museum of modern art by then. You’ll only have to do five years of service to be considered a national treasure

Along with all the people who died stopping Germany and Japan from taking over the world. Oh well some monster will rise up again and they will learn. Oh well.

Be much easier if people were as precious as they felt they needed to be as long as they learnt to get along, forgot about greed and selfishness, and looked after the planet as a whole...  but that’s a fucking unicorn with dragon scales..

As you were.

We’re on a one way road. Accelerating out of control.

Sure it is, that's all it is just cloth. What it represents is another matter entirely and thus the debate.

Sure, just like what America is *represented* as being, and what it actually is, are not one and the same. Symbolism lends itself very nicely to the interests of propaganda, which I think helps to explain why America has fallen so far and so quickly: we are preoccupied with image and appearance, rather than substance.
