THE HOLOCAUST
#1
I've been reading about the Holocaust. I've always known the basics, Jews, concentration camps, gassed to death, etc. but it was more than that and it is sorta mind blowing that the world stood by and let this happen. Not only did they stand by, they closed their borders to those trying to escape certain death. What kind of people stand by and do nothing!

They not only killed the Jews but they set up special euthanasia centers to kill disabled children & adults and gays.

I can't be the only one who wonders why the world closed their eyes to this. This history makes me feel sad/mad.

Do any of you know much about this other than the basics?

My father's family was Jewish so I've always been at least peripherally aware of the Holocaust. I remember reading The Diary of a Young Girl in elementary school and finding the whole thing terrifying.

A couple of good twitter accounts to follow to at least acknowledge the needless and horrifying deaths of all those people are:

https://twitter.com/AuschwitzMuseum
https://twitter.com/HolocaustMuseum

The first one posts photos of prisoners and their length of stay... which usually ends in death and is a month or two at most after their imprisonment.

And while I'm on my soapbox, you should check out "The Report" on amazon. It's about how we were all deceived by the CIA on their torture aka enhanced interrogation technique. It's not partisan, it paints the Bush and the Obama administration as collaborators in the deceit. I'm deeply ashamed of my country and of humanity in general.

Being half German, always makes me feel extra sad and guilty about the Holocaust, even though it's not my fault.

The world is barbaric. Nobody had a problem turning a blind eye to slavery and torturing black people either. Its bizarre when you think about it.

Quite a lot of people hated Jews back then, you have to look at the mindset back then, That includes slavery. You just cannot compare any of it with today's thought process. Today gays are treated almost normally but even 20 years ago it was taboo, Rock Hudson is an example. People hated Jews back then because they stuck together and controlled a lot of banking money.

That's why when people from the 60's 70's that messed with under age girls today are considered perverts. When was the last time a Rock star was held accountable for their digressions back in the day? One reason is none of the girls ever came out and complained about it. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Today most cannot even remember that day in the back of the bus.

Slowly the Jews finally realized they were being hunted, by then it was to late. The world never knew how bad it was until they freed them from the camps. There was no internet then.

Serves them right for crucifying Jesus.

I thought the Romans did that because he said he was the King of man. Nobody was taller than Caesar.

Read your bible! The Jews rejected Jesus and that's why he offered himself to us Gentiles. They don't believe Jesus was the Messiah, they believe he was just a prophet or street magician like David Blaine.

Why are you talking about rockstars again? What does this have to do with the Holocaust?

Yeah and? That still leaves like 99.9% of the Jews rejecting Jesus. They wanted Pilate to release Barrabas, a criminal instead of Jesus.

Yes. He said people hated Jews because they stuck together.
As a result they were being hunted, but didn't know they were being hunted.
Sounds like victim blaming to me.
But we can't think about it the same way
because there was no internet back then.
And then he gave the examples of slaves, gays and rockstars.

And the world was unaware that Jews were being killed or put into camps, and then killed until they saw the bodies.

I get what he is saying-people didn't know what was going on and Duchess was asking how the world could sit back and watch what was going on.
