The picture of the mince pie that OP posted actually looks good. The one I tried from the grocery store here was disgusting, it was in a regular pie crust filled with a bunch of raisins.

No, no, no! the "mincemeat" is a careful bend of apple, raisins, sultanas and other fruits mixed with spices. It should have a fruity but tangy taste and should be the consistency of fruit preserve. A normal pie crust is just wrong, wrong, wrong as well.

Pie should be chocolate cream. I hate fruit pies. I can't get over the yucky texture of the fruit. Fruit needs to be in it's original form or I am not eating it.

I've never met a pie that I didn't like.
I've had the mince meat with the suet and stuff, it's not my first choice of pie, but I'll eat it. My mom used to make big ass pies on a cookie sheet, cut them into squares and freeze them, until I was 19 years old I never knew that a pie was round or was not a frozen square to be licked like and ice cream bar.

Yeah, but just like the birds, it'll keep you warm in the winter.

If you make pies right they are NOT like those gelatinous shit frozen in the stores. They are juicy, fruity and delicious and just looking at them they'll earn 5 pounds of fat on your ass. But any pie made from non chemical ingredients vs. the shit in the store, you can burn off those 5 pounds. That chemical shit never leaves your body. I'm with you on that... just the smell of suet is sickening enough but it's sole design is to put fat on the body. I feel like I need a shower after touching it.

I have to stay away from them or I will eat half of a large one with my damn coffee in the morning. Right now, as part of Thanksgiving leftovers, there are entire apple pies, pumpkin pies, and whatever the fuck else is down there in my third refrigerator. Can you believe I need three fucking fridges?

I make all this stuff like pies, cakes, cookies and pastries and I barely touch a bit of any of them.
I take two bites of my pies and it's enough for me for an entire year. Baklava is so damn good too but one piece and I've had my fill for a year. I think I just enjoy baking the stuff and seeing the enjoyment of others eating and enjoying them more than eating them myself.
