Bush did TARP. That has ended well. We have recouped almost all of the 700B in bailouts, plus interest. Obama did the stimulus (American Recovery and Reinvestment Act) that cost us over $700B (none can be recouped).

That is a difference that stands out in my mind. Bush lent, Obama gave. The problem is, Obama just gave the money away and there wasn't any recovery AT ALL. Nothing was stimulated. The jobs gained were all federal jobs that cost us money and grow government. The same work is getting done, so I don't see how we needed more federal workers.

Now Obama wants to impose more taxes on banks. Do you think the banks are going to pay that? WE are going to pay that in addition to what the stimulus cost us.

I don't see what good can come from it for the working class. If you are poor, lazy, or want to stay in this country illegally, Obama is your man. The recession and uneven recovery have erased decades of minority gains, leaving whites on average with 20 times the net worth of blacks and 18 times that of Hispanics, according to an analysis of new Census data.

The analysis shows the racial and ethnic impact of the economic meltdown, which ravaged housing values and sent unemployment soaring. It offers the most direct government evidence yet of the disparity between predominantly younger minorities whose main asset is their home and older whites who are more likely to have 401(k) retirement accounts or other stock holdings.

"What's pushing the wealth of whites is the rebound in the stock market and corporate savings, while younger Hispanics and African-Americans who bought homes in the last decade — because that was the American dream — are seeing big declines," said Timothy Smeeding, a University of Wisconsin-Madison professor who specializes in income inequality.

The median wealth of white U.S. households in 2009 was $113,149, compared with $6,325 for Hispanics and $5,677 for blacks, according to the analysis released Tuesday by the Pew Research Center. Those ratios, roughly 20 to 1 for blacks and 18 to 1 for Hispanics, far exceed the low mark of 7 to 1 for both groups reached in 1995, when the nation's economic expansion lifted many low-income groups to the middle class.

You realize Clinton started the NINJA loans, right? I've posted it before. I even named the legislation. So yeah, if you voted for Clinton, you may have to shoulder some of the perceived blame. Or you can blame everything on Bush if it makes you feel better.

I remember laughing about all the people who would be hating life in a few years that bought houses with interest-only loans. I didn't realize they would be be losing their jobs and their homes and their retirement accounts. I don't think anybody else forecasted that with any certainty, either.

It sucks to be wrong. I don't expect the crazy hopey-changey fucks to actually admit it.

I don't agree with everything any president does, or any human, or myself for that matter. But my head isn't so far up my ass that I don't see huge fucking problems. The poor are getting poorer. That's why they should stay home on election day. If you can't run your house, you shouldn't decide on the fate of a nation.

Nobody is immune unless they are extremely wealthy. If it keeps going like it's going, I see many people having to think a little harder about things. I don't want to be reduced to benefit-dependent status. I just want to keep a good percentage of the money I make for my family. I don't want your money or some other stanger's money, just my own earnings.

That isn't fucked up thinking. It's decent and moral. Take care of your own family and do what you are supposed to do. I just don't see the evil in it. If I choose to give to someone or some cause, I will. If I don't, I shouldn't be forced. How can anyone have a problem with that?
