By the town and by the insurance company. The insurance one was 15,000 less than the town one so just for shits and giggles I asked what assessment company they used was. Yup, the same fucking one! I am going to a meeting in a few weeks to blow the lid off this thing.

Several years ago my town sent me a property tax assessment for my car, that was for $2200 more then I paid for the car. I brought all my paperwork to the tax assessor's office, & robustly argued my case for over ¹⁄₂ hour, all to no avail, it was like pissin into the wind. They wanted their $$$$ by hook or crook, to meet their town budget.

My problem is if the same reassessment company did both assessments why are they so different?

One is tax assessed value one is replacement value without the improvements would be my guess.

you really need to check what all was included in the insurance assessment before you make an ass out of yourself.

You have the right to appeal your tax assessment, any idiot that doesn't follow the proper form for that appeal will find themselves pissing into the wind and get nowhere.

I have both assessments and plan to stop by my real estate lawyers office to see where I stand before I go in. You are right, replacement value is different. I know they will just adjust the tax rate anyways but I feel I need to say something rather than just let them walk on me. The funny thing is that at any meeting of the town reassesment people and the person filing a claim only certain questions can be asked.

Yes, my tax assessor had his tax appraisal charts, and didn't care that I showed him the bill of sale from the dealer. And I had the tax dispute complaint form with all the numbers filled in, along with necessary receipts. The town rarely looses, if ever.

I won't let the assessors inside my house or on my property, they have to stand on the sidewalk and or get permission from the landowner behind me to stand on his property to see mine.

My no trespassing sign on my gate specifically excludes employee's of government agencies and assholes.

I protested my tax assessment in writing and included recent sales and foreclosure notices. They didn't give a shit. They upped the millage, too. Dirty bastards.

Austerity. Not such a dirty word. I don't know why this country doesn't get an effen clue. We don't need new parks and new walking trails this year. Half of all the people around here are fat as hell. Like they are going to sweat their multiple asses off at some park.
