Are you going to come back and clarify this statement or concede that it was inaccurate and that you, sir, are the mong on this one? (By the way, there was also a Mongol Empire. Really.)

You do know that there was indeed an officially proclaimed Italian Empire long after the fall of the Roman Empire, right? So, for the sake of argument, take the Roman Empire out of the equation all together. The Italians did in fact have an officially proclaimed empire after they acquired Libya in the mid 1930s, prior to WWII. It also included Albania, Ehtiopia, and some other African territories that I don't recall. You can look it up though.
