Presidential race 2016
Wow!

Shades of 2008 . . . Obama did the same thing and ended up robbing Hillary of her coronation.

Rand Paul takes on Donald Trump

Paul just released this short video of Trump in Trump's own words; reminding Republicans of Trump's support of liberal policies, the Democratic party, and Hillary Clinton.

I don't know whether Paul's strategy will succeed or backfire. I don't get the sense that Trump supporters care that he doesn't back his claims or that he appears to say whatever suits him best at any given time for the sole purpose of winning. I think his support lies in being politically incorrect, insulting to his competitors, rich, and amusing.

Anyway, Trump responded to the video by calling Paul a weird spoiled-brat, a bad debater, and a loser on the golf course!

Trump also, once again, invoked and compared himself to Ronald Reagan who transitioned from liberal Democrat to conservative Republican.

Bernie is a socialist!! Everyone labels him as a socialist. I'm sorry....I'm not voting for an outright socialist (as if the democratic party hasn't become socialist enough). Fuck!

hah This isn't going to end well.

I heard a little of Paul's response, this isn't verbatim, he said, "speaking of spoiled, do you think Trump's kids ever worked at a minimum paying job? All my kids did."

What the fuck do their kids have to do with anything? Meh. I don't like him and now I like him even less. Don't bring kids into your fight, dumbass. He's losing & he's grasping if he has to resort to that.

I didn't think what Paul said about Trump's kids not holding down minimum wage jobs was bad at all.

It's true, those kids are adults who Donald puts on his shows and are part of his public image, and Trump's using the fact that he's rich and can buy people to do whatever he wants as part of his campaign platform. Trump also can't deny that he'll whine til he gets his way, which we've seen him do, and then calls other candidates spoiled brats. So, Rand Paul's comment didn't bother me in context and it seemed clear to me that it was about Trumps detachment from blue collar lower-wage workers and about Trump's hypocrisy, not a negative reflection or attack on Trump's kids.

Trump re-tweeted out, "Hillary can't satisfy her husband, what makes her think she can satisfy America?" He's made statements about Jeb Bush's Hispanic wife and how he perceives that affects Bush's bad immigration policy. He's attacked other candidates' intelligence, not just their policies and records. Etc, etc...

It cracks me up that no matter what Donald Trump says or does, there are people who seriously defend his sense of absolute entitlement and contend that those who challenge him or hit back are out-of-line. It's fascinating to watch from a group-think psychological perspective.

He labeled himself a "Democratic Socialist".

I respect Bernie, though he's too far left to be a viable candidate for me at this time.

Bernie is a guy who resents the money-owned political system (both parties) as much or more as Trump and has been actively fighting for a government of the people and for the people (all the people) his whole adult life.

He's fighting to change campaign finance laws so that corporations and lobbyists can't own politicians and public policy. He's not someone who screams, "no one can buy me, I can buy them!!", which doesn't solve the problem, it only transfers it. One shouldn't have to be wholly beholden to corporations/special interests NOR be a billionaire to run for political office in this country.

I couldn't vote for Trump either. I said up thread that there are aspects of him that I like but he's gone over the edge. That comment about Hillary satisfying America cracked me up but I can't see voting for a laughing stock/spectacle (Trump, not Hillary) all the way to the White House.

Besides, I think Putin would best him in arm wrestling and then our President would be a....loser. :(

It's amazing to me. I've realized in the past week or so that if I'm anywhere in the vicinity of a television and I hear Donald is about to speak/be interviewed, I stop what I'm doing and I listen to him. I'm both horrified and amused by that. I don't even like the guy. 84

How is this different from when those who criticized Obama's positions and statements were rabidly attacked and labeled as racists by his supporters (and many in the media)?

Holloway and I . . . will continue to "Stump for the Trump".

And when a retirement aged socialist will give up his SS benefits and demonstrate he is willing to redistribute his wealth, I'll "Stand for the Sand".

And Hillary . . . needs to be more of a Clinton and demand a balanced budget before I "Shill for Hill".

Only difference I see is that Trump's skin is white. RACISTS!!! hah

Stump away, my friend.

I laugh at the people who automatically label everyone who criticizes Obama's policies/statements as "racist" too; I've mocked a couple of them here, many times.

Anyway, I'm not cracking up at everybody who supports Trump's policies and statements. That's not what I posted; he hasn't really laid out any policies.

As I said, I'm fascinated by those Trump supporters who cry foul when someone dares to ask the man a tough question or takes a personal swing back at him. It's ironic and funny to me -- given that he is a presidential candidate and public figure, one who should expect tough questions and who throws personal jabs/insults left and right while claiming to abhor political correctness (when it comes to dishing it out, that is).

If you consider yourself among such Trump defenders, consider yourself fascinating to me. I've not seen you do that here, so I wouldn't know.

I don't believe that you would feel the Bern based on that alone! hah

I'm interested in hearing more about all of the candidates' stands on fiscal trade-offs and balancing the budget, including Hillary's.

C'mon. That would never happen.

A balanced budget is a talking point only. When balancing a budget there is pain and politicians do not like pissing anyone off. Especially during voting season. Its talked about its promised but when push comes to shove its never done. The only reason anything gets done when balancing a budget is because of public outcry. And that's meager.

10 points for the person that knows the last time we had a true balanced budget.

Okay, I'll take "true balanced budgets" for 10 points, Maggot.

What is...in the 1990s under Democrat Bill Clinton's administration (with a Republican-controlled Congress)?

The more I listen to him the more I'm starting to like him hah He's no more of an asshole than the rest of them.

I can see the appeal. I listened to him today, "we're going to do this, we're going to do that", it's catchy. But it's turning the whole thing into a bit of a freak show. I just can't see the really prim and proper Christians swallowing his brand of politics, but I don't live in the U.S. so I may be wrong.

When you are choosing "the one", it has to be someone who can stand on the international stage and represent you. I think he's a shocker.

Crazy, huh. I listened to him again last night, a few of the candidates were out in Iowa and I listened to bits & pieces of their dialog, most were boring except for the Donald. Hillary sounds disgusted. hah She referred to him as entertainment.

Lots of people (media) keep saying he will flame out but just the opposite seems to be happening. That's only my opinion and it comes from only seeing some of what is going down, I haven't heard everything and I don't get to see what's going on, on a daily basis.
