ANOTHER SCHOOL/PUBLIC SHOOTING

Kind of sounds like gun control.

An active shooter has been reported at Naval Medical Center in San Diego.

The center posted on their Facebook page Tuesday morning telling anyone inside to "run, hide or fight."

The story just popped up in my facebook page. Any one else hear anything?

From: http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/nation...FB_DCBrand

The San Diego Police Department (SDPD) confirmed that officials at NMCSD reported shots fired in the facility, but could not offer further details at this time.
NMCSD advised all personnel to not report to work and avoid the area. Officials at the facility told NBC 7 that, as far as they know, this is not an active shooter drill or training.
At around 8:30 a.m., two California Highway Patrol officers were seen entering the facility through an emergency room entrance near Florida Drive.
Additional details were not released. Check back for updates on this story.
NMCSD staff is comprised of more than 6,500 military, civilian, contractor and volunteer personnel. The 272-bed, multispecialty hospital and ambulatory complex is located on 78.4 acres in the southeast corner of Balboa Park, about 2.5 miles from downtown San Diego.
NMCSD personnel deploy to Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Djibouti and aboard the USNS Mercy. The facility is affiliated with 19 civilian nursing schools, training more than 400 students per year in clinical rotations.
NBC 7 is at the scene. We'll bring you updates on air and online as the situation unfolds.
Since officials have shut down access to the area, traffic is backed up for miles.

I don't know if the "active shooter' report was a hoax or a misunderstanding, Cannongal, but fortunately it was taken very seriously and authorities responded accordingly.

From what I'm seeing, there's no evidence of gun shots fired and no injuries reported.

I've spent a couple of memorable afternoons in San Diego, particularly at Coronado Beach.

With the old hotel in the background, and Naval air activity directly overhead, it was very memorable.

One afternoon, an America's Cup yacht was performing just offshore. The mast had to have been 70+ feet tall, and it was very cool seeing it.

I like San Diego too, MS.

My sister and I used to take the kids down there a couple of times a year -- lots of fun family stuff to do.

We had a couple of fun kidless weekends at Del Mar race track and drinks at the Coronado Hotel too. I'd like to make it down there again this summer; maybe take my mom for a short getaway.

I spent 8 months there learning how to be a radioman when I was in the service. Great times.

Arizona -- this one is a high school shooting with very few details yet available.

At least one student was killed during an Arizona high school shooting Friday, local media reported.

Two teenagers were shot at Independence High School in Glendale Friday morning, police said.

One of the victims died, ABC 15 reported. Police have not confirmed the death, and the condition of the second victim is not clear.

Police are investigating the shooting. Officials said there is no active shooter situation at the school, which remains on lockdown.

No other details — including information on potential suspects and motives — were immediately released. Police officers were seen laying a large, blue tarp outside of the school's lunchroom.

According to the school's website, there are 2,067 students enrolled.

This wasn't a "public shooting." The girls were found under a ramada at the school at 8 am this morning. It's looking like they shot and killed each other. 2 15 year old victims, and LE doesn't believe anyone else was involved.

Thanks for the update, Gunnar. Sad.

It's not a mass shooting, based on your update. Since the shooting went down in a public place, it fits okay here.

Anyway, it's good to hear that no other students or school staff were at risk.

Kinda weird though that 2 15 year old girls shoot and kill each other though. Don't think I've ever heard of anything like this before. One of them should have conceded and went home and changed clothes. hah

The shooting at Independence High in Glendale, Arizona was a murder / suicide.

The two dead fifteen-year-old girls had been friends since childhood and were involved in a romantic relationship for the last couple of years.

According to her older sister (a teacher at the school), May Kieu, pictured right, was trying to distance herself from girlfriend Dorothy Dutiel, pictured left.

The gun and a suicide note were found with the bodies; police aren't releasing the note at this time.

However, a recent Instagram post and tweets by Dorothy Dutiel points towards her killing May and then killing herself.

Glendale police say the shooter in last week's murder-suicide at Independence High School in Arizona got the gun from a classmate. That classmate reportedly got it from his house without his parents' permission.

Police tell KPHO one of the girls approached a 15-year-old classmate on Thursday, telling him she needed a gun for protection. She promised to return the gun on Friday.

The classmate provided her with a family-owned handgun, from his home, without the permission or knowledge of his parents.

Police tell KPHO that classmate has spoken to detectives and was cooperative. The Maricopa County Attorney's Office will review his involvement in the matter.

Both 15-year-old girls, Dorothy Dutiel and May Kieu, suffered a single gunshot wound, Glendale PD Officer Tracey Breeden said.

Investigators recovered a weapon and a suicide note, but police did not release the contents of the note.

I hope the owners of the weapon used have a great attorney and excessive insurance.

Or a substantial portfolio and assets.

The little fucker who provided the weapon needs to be charged and prosecuted.

There's been another mass shooting in Kalamazoo. Seven dead, two wounded :(

Seven people were killed and two others wounded in apparently random shootings in Michigan Saturday evening, authorities said. A 14-year-old girl was among those shot and killed, state police said.

A suspect was in custody early Sunday and being questioned after the three separate shootings in Kalamazoo County, police said.

"There is no connection between any of them, this all appears to be random," Kalamazoo County Undersheriff Paul Matyas said. "This is the worst-case scenario that any community can have."

The shooting spree began at around 6 p.m., when a woman at a Kalamazoo County apartment complex was shot several times, Matyas said. She was in serious condition, he said.

Hours later, police were called to a car dealership where two people were fatally shot and a third was wounded and is in critical condition, Matyas said.

Police then received a call of a third shooting in the parking lot of a nearby Cracker Barrel restaurant where five people were fatally shot, including the 14-year-old girl, who was hospitalized in a critical condition but later died.

In that shooting, about two miles from the car dealership, the suspect got out of his car and started a brief conversation with people in two other cars, Matyas said.

After a few seconds of talking, the gunman "unloaded his weapon into both cars," Matyas said.
