Johnny S. Clarke & Lisa Straub- young Ohio couple murdered

my opinion being that no effort would have been necessary in order to make the presence of drugs and/or drug dealing quite apparent in that particular house at that particular time.

i hate stats and i don't think this is a cold case at all. by any stretch.
look at Zahra Baker case...nobody charged with her murder yet. they are getting all their ducks in a row, including forensics, to make a strong case to take to trial and WIN at trial. you (prosecution) only get one bite at the apple.
everyone watches too many cop shows on TV. these things aren't solved in an hour. or even 72 hours. the main thing this case will hang on, in my opinion, is forensics, DNA, cell phone records. and all kinds of sloppy evidence i suspect was left at an unprofessional crime scene.

not really upscale i wouldn't say, though maybe i'm a bit highbrow. tax value of about $200k, i'd call that middle class for the area.

The mother is a strange one because she says conflicting things (like she saw him in the basement and then her cousin saw him through the blinds). Who gets information like that wrong?!

i am not aware of where you obtained the info that she said "house sitting", i do not remember that phrase at all from the 911 calls.

mother never said basement, 911 operator said basement when she left a message for a detective to go to the scene.

my thought on this was that lisa was getting ready or showering after work when it all hit the fan. i'd wager there will be no evidence of any sexual assault found on lisa.

i've thought from the start that these killings were a signal saying loud and clear:

"johnny fucked us. if you fuck us, this is what happens to you and the ones you love. don't fuck us."

professional hit does not imply a hired hand. it implies a hit carried out by someone in the business of carrying out such hits, likely by a member of the same organization led by the person making above statement to everyone else within earshot of the situation.

Lemme go back and re-listen. I'm pretty certain she said both of those things.

Regarding the neighborhood: Lets compromise - upper middle class. Lots of swimming pools and houses that looked like they have high square footage. 200K assessed value (for taxes) = 400K market value, where I'm from (well, during the housing bubble, anyway, lol). I shall go back and review Google Earth.

Gotcha. And what would be the drug of choice, in your opinion? (I don't know if the scale makes it obvious.(?) My experience with drugs are with those that didn't have to be weighed. I'm almost embarrassed by my ignorance of this subject.)

the main difference in the zahra case and this case, however, is that they have had a pretty good idea right from the start what happened there...and people in custody very soon after as well.

oh and that isn't one thing to hang on, that's like fifty.

an idea means nothing w/o evidence. they needed a ton of it. and there is only one person in custody, stepwitch. she is charged with obstruction. nobody is charged with even improper disposal of a body.

there is a Zahra thread here of course. Smiley_emoticons_wink

he has not been arrested. except once briefly on bad checks. he is walking around free. there are many angry villagers with pitchforks demanding his arrest and subsequent lynching.

I don't know about you guys but I never like hearing stuff like, "he's getting his life straightened around". One of life's big red flags.

my favorite is he's turning his life around, getting his GED and is an aspiring rapper.

i just listened again and yes, about two minutes in on the first call, mom does say "house sitting" however she did say before that they live there with her parents.

technically, since the parents were away, the two of them were house sitting. i see this as a little nitpicky, i don't personally feel the mom had anything to do with anything any more than tiffany did.

mom is upset, has heart issues, thinks something has happened to her son. i'd say she's allowed a little leeway with semantics, it's not like she turned her story around 180 degrees or anything.

from my recollection, 911 operator quotes mom as saying she saw them in the basement.

again, i think this is all nitpicky. this mom is hysterical, she knows her son well enough to know that something very bad is right in the process of happening, and she is helpless to do anything. i don't think the specific semantics of what mom says on three frantic 911 calls is as important as the general message.
