Johnny S. Clarke & Lisa Straub- young Ohio couple murdered
Has no one realized he is in protective custody...video only! He was not the mastermind, he is a goon, he followed the lead of the pack of wolves....he is disgusting, yet not a lone in this! He is being arraigned by video for a reason.....he is the pansy and putz. His connections are so becoming known. This guy is a stupid fuck....he was the break in their brotherhood and chain...he is being protected right now, not because the legal system is kind...but because he is the link and only the link....I bet you find at least 4 different stands of DNA under Lisa's nails..he is just one. Much of this case has been held back not because they are incompetent but because they have what is needed to make the case....we are so angry because we don't know why they do what they do...but that is exactly what is solving this horrific, brutal crime. I applaud the detectives for their professionalism and you will too once you see the evidence and why they have played the information game this way. Sammy Sosa is just one of many and they NEED to be brought to justice. Her death was more brutal and inhumane than even we know...Johnny's was quicker...she suffered so for loving him...God Bless them both and their families...but bless her tortured soul the most...so sorry Lisa, you never deserved nor asked for this pain...God rest your precious soul.

I know cops who came to the scene, who have had to go to counseling...because there was nothing indicating a problem...yet (911 tapes) from Maytee specifically speak about bodies in the basement and a house ransacked....how would she have this information...well again it would be from the innocent TW who reported this to her....just disgusting holes in a nightmare...c'mon now. The cops saw nothing twice but you all knew they were dead in the basement, yet found in the kitchen????? Cops who came to the scene are in therapy, yet TW is fine....details no ONE knew were given on the 911 tapes yet hmmmm you all are so bright...THat house was hidden and all blinds were down...no one answered the door...tv's were turned on and off between police checks...leave the cops alone....you are evil, bad, evil people...none of these men or women will ever rest a peaceful moment until everyone one of you is arrested!

im assuming the domestic violence charges were from when he attempted to break into his ex's house. i believe only the 2 murder charges and one of the burgularies are in this case. i could be wrong though. and rumor has it that they have his dna at the scene as well as at least one other.

They obviously took their time arresting him and getting things in order. The scene was far too sloppy for them to NOT have any DNA. But the police are being smart about it and making sure they have a strong enough case since you can only be tried once for the same crime. Which is why it pissed me off when people say 'its about time' or that Maytee was about to start a protest. Let the police take their time; they know what they're doing.

Toledoan suspected in murders arraigned-Parents of a man slain, along with his girlfriend, in a Springfield Township home last winter Monday decried the murder suspect's emotionless demeanor during his arraignment and reiterated their desire that he receive the death penalty if convicted.

"I want to sit down and watch [him] die. I was there in the house. I saw everything and it was horrific," said John P. Clarke, father of Johnny Clarke, 21, who was found dead Jan. 31 in the home of Lisa Straub, 20, who also was killed. Both were found bound with bags over their heads.

"Life in prison is not enough," Mr. Clarke said of suspect Samuel Williams, 24, and any other possible suspects in the murders.

During the video arraignment Monday in Sylvania Municipal Court, Mr. Williams, a first-year social-work student at Owens Community College whose last known address was 1626 Kelsey Ave. in East Toledo, stared straight ahead in silence.

He is charged with two counts of murder and two counts of aggravated burglary in connection with the couple's deaths.

Judge M. Scott Ramey kept Mr. Williams' bond at $5 million during the arraignment, in which Mr. Williams participated via video link from the Lucas County jail. Bond had been set during an initial video appearance Friday, with the arraignment proceedings continued to Monday so the court could appoint public defender Nicole Khoury to represent the suspect.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Monday.

Clarke's mother, Maytee Vazquez-Clarke described Mr. Williams' demeanor during the arraignment Monday as "ice cold."

"And I have two words, 'death penalty,'" she added and clarified that she meant it for everybody who was involved in the killing of the couple.

"It makes me sick to look at that face, but I know that I have to do it. I have to be Johnny and Lisa's voice," she said.

Mrs. Vazquez-Clarke said after the arraignment that she was wrong earlier when she told The Blade she had seen Mr. Williams' photo on someone else's Facebook page. She had checked again, and "it was not him," she said.

Nonetheless, she maintained that the couple was targeted and that others must have been involved, because her son would have put up a fight against a lone attacker.

"My son was a big boy. He wasn't going to go down easily. And one of the kids or the other was going to jump [out] of a window or run for help or something," she said.

Lucas County Sheriff's Detective Jeff Kozak, who last week had said he expected more arrests, "hopefully in the near future," was not available to comment about the case Monday.

Investigators have yet to disclose any potential motives.

just for the record, re: curiouscat comments: video first appearances are the norm in many courts, most jails have a video CCTV room/direct link to courtroom. this saves dragging all their sorry asses to court and is quite efficient. it has nothing to do with their status as inmates or their charges.

he may well be PC (in protective custody). that has nothing to do with video first appearance/arraignment.

oh really? the Straubs may disagree that she is "Lisa's voice".
there isn't much doubt in my mind that any rational Judge is going to bar her from courtroom. i hope she keeps running her BIG stupid mouth.

as for defendant's demeanor...what did she expect? weeping, wailing, or maybe hanging himself on camera? he sat there in silence and that was appropriate.

He's on video because he was arraigned at a lessor court (Sylvania) but hes in jail downtown toledo. He'll be bound over to Lucas county common pleas court, which will have jurisdiction over the murder trial. It's common for video arraignments here in Toledo, I wouldn't read anything into that.

I'm n NO WAY blaming the victims at all...AT ALL....but I think this is gonna come down to thier lifestyle catching up with them... Tragic as it sounds.

if he doesn't object to her, he may keep her. or she could offer to stay on pro-bono. someone else could also offer to come on board pro-bono, for the publicity. he can have more than one lawyer. assuming he wants to go to trial.

Motive(s) is the real story.

The Clarke family might consider plea bargains to keep sordid details hidden.

Besides . . . we have been reminded many times on her various 'Justice' sites that it is only God who can judge.

I didn't realize he resided in Lucas County.

Salt Lake City is gonna be pissed.

Sorry, I am technically challenged. Tried signing up and guess I messed something up. Quick question if you don't mind. Will Maytee's push for the death penalty actually have any bearing on the alleged getting the death penalty? My reason and question is...if she can successfully convince them to do the death penalty, this may remove his chance to offer something to plea bargain with...say like Maytee's involvement with the crime if this happened to be the case.....

The member is guest.

i'm replying since it's a good general question.

the only point at which maytee's wishes would be made known would be during victim impact statements at time of possible conviction. the court may or may not take her wishes into consideration.
also, the decision to seek death is entirely up to State Attny. and they may or may not take maytee's wishes into considersation. they have to seek death (or not) based on what the elements are for DP in Ohio. this looks like felony first-degree so far. murders in commission of a felony.

of course there will be an attempt to plea bargain. that's normal and expected. this defendant may well know and can admit to whoever else may be complicit. even peripherally. conspirators in a robbery for example.

in this case i suspect there will be lots of "connected" parties.

Makes me wonder why he's being tried in Sylvania Court and not Toledo Court.

as i have explained, it will most likely be transferred to Court Of Common Pleas.

can some of you please go back and read some pages from time of arrest? instead of repeating stuff i have already said/explained. thankyou.

I rarely join the conversation and like to lurk only. But I will at least put in my two cents worth regarding the local court system. The crime occured within the Sylvania Municipal Court jurisdiction. The defendant is arraigned and has a right to a preliminary hearing in the Municipal court. A county prosecutor handles the case and not the city prosecutor. A preliminary hearing determines if enough evidence exists to continue with the case. At this point the hearing is held, the defendant waives the hearing, or the prosecutor and attorney reach a deal.

If the Defendant waives his right to the prelimary hearing and or the hearing is held and the judge finds that enough evidence exists the case will be bound over to the Lucas County Common Pleas Court. The Judge assigned in Lucas County Common Pleas Court will review the bond again and appoint a new public defender should they believe the Defendant is in need.

I hope this helps for anyone interested!

Might wanna rethink your "NO MATTER anyone's past . . ." thing.

Unless it's just a 'Shout-Out' to Maytee and her kin.

Let us take another look here. You say that no matter what one has done in their past, they don't deserve death, yet in the next sentence you state that anyone involved should die. So if their PAST includes smothering and terrorizing two young kids, it's still NO MATTER, because NO ONE deserves to die??? So are you for or against the death penalty? Me sooo confusious!hah
