Johnny S. Clarke & Lisa Straub- young Ohio couple murdered
truth be told, your claim does connect all the dots. Some on here have suspected as much. I don't recall the Blade articles from the late 80's but if it's true it would support your theory.

Unfortunately I don't have access to those articles, I will see if my library can pull them up, I refuse to get them from the Blade archives.

If there's one institution I refuse to give money to it's the Toledo Bland. And I'd have to pay for them but libraries can get them free.

FEDERAL GRAND JURY INDICTS 2 ON DRUG COUNTS
Blade, The (Toledo, OH) - Friday, July 3, 1998
Author: BLADE
Two Toledo men were indicted by a federal grand jury on drug charges after drug enforcment agents recovered about 500 pounds of marijuana, the U.S. Attorney's Office in Toledo reported.

John P . Clarke , 28, of 944 Colburn St., and Shimone D. Maxwell, 23, of 1918 North Superior St., were charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

If convicted, the men could face 5 to 40 years in prison or up to $2 million in fines or both.

This is Big John with the Federal charges. Does anyone know if Shimone Maxwell aka "Smooth" is dead or alive? they did a death verification research on Shimon Maxwell on Discovery.

Nine in gang charged in drug case
BY CHRISTINA HALL
BLADE STAFF WRITER

Nine men - all Bloods street gang members or their associates - were arrested yesterday after a six-month investigation that targeted a drug-trafficking operation in Toledo and other unidentified areas, authorities said.

Arrest warrants were issued for two other people. Authorities declined to identify them because they were not in custody.

All were charged in U.S. District Court with conspiracy to possess and distribute cocaine and marijuana.

Carl Spicocchi, head of the Toledo FBI office, declined comment, but said: "I think it will have a definite impact on the community."

Eight of the men, who were arrested in the Toledo area, appearedyesterday before U.S. Magistrate Vernelis Armstrong. The ninth was arrested in Harrisburg, Pa.

All but one - Craig Dotson II, 27, of 5424 Nebraska Ave. - were being held in the Lucas County jail pending preliminary hearings and detention hearings.

Also arrested were:

●Kelvin Gist, 32, of 5637 Swan Creek Drive.

●Thomas Ingram, 35, of 1726 Freeman St.

●Kevin Lashuay, 25, of 5365 Florita Drive.

●Sean Love, 33, of 5814 Firethorne Drive.

●Shimon Maxwell, 30, of Toledo. He was arrested in Pennsylvania.

●Robert Mumford, 32, of 665 West Delaware Ave.

●Eloy Perez, 37, of 1014 Greenwood Ave.

●Chris Womack, 25, of 2414 Lawton Ave.

Authorities removed boxes of items when they searched 12 locations in Toledo and Waterville. Mr. Spicocchi declined comment on the seized evidence.

According to criminal complaints filed for most of the men, they are accused of conspiring to distribute and to possess with the intent to distribute more than 11 pounds of cocaine and 225 pounds of marijuana. That activity occurred from last year through Wednesday, when the complaints were dated. Love's complaint indicated his involvement began in the 1990s.

According to an affidavit, the investigation involved confidential sources, wiretaps, and conversations, some of which occurred at The Zone, a clothing store on Dorr Street owned by Gist, which one assistant U.S. attorney said was used to facilitate the drug conspiracy.

Penalties for convictions on the offenses vary. In general, they range from five years to life in prison and millions of dollars in fines.

A few attorneys who hadn't had time to review the court records and relatives of one of the suspects declined comment after yesterday's court appearances.

The investigation involved about 40 law enforcement personnel who worked on the case. It also was part of the Ohio High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Initiative.

Other agencies that participated in the investigation were the Northwest Ohio Violent Crime/Fugitive Task Force, Sylvania Township and Waterville police departments, Lucas County sheriff's office, the Ohio Bureau of Identification and Investigation, and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.

What's going on with this case now? Is it considered a closed case?

it will never be closed. not until all involved are apprehended and tried. i am not sure if it's 'officially' closed, but i believe there is ongoing investigation.
and no statute of limitations on murder.

Well, after reading all the rantings against the vermin, is it correct to
assume that Maytee and Big John did not have a dog in any fight against
Sam and Cameo prior to the murders? Therefore, they could not
have planted the cigarette? They did, of course, have the opportunity
to do so when entering the house and discovering the bodies. Wonder
if Big John and Momma's DNA was tested for checking Johnny's pockets
to make sure there ws nothing incriminating that could be found.

Just noticed something interesting on Big John...he had several traffic charges from 2008, they were consolidated with drug possession charge in 2008 that's under Jovanny's name with Big John's birthdate....in 2010 a bench warrant was issued and bond set at $1000. On 7/19/2012 bench warrant revoked, case reset and set for trial 9/21/2012.

Under young Jovanny's name with Big John's birthdate? talk about crazy people, it sounds like more Clarke mischief to me!

Although I'm hoping they put this case together so it actually answers some questions, instead of relying/waiting for a DNA hit, it seems several mockers have questions about who was DNA tested. From the trial I have a list of over 30 people that they DNA tested, 12 of which were tested basically because they were close friends or family of SW or CP.
There are many familiar names on the list, and the Clarkes were notably missing from the list. I don't know for sure that they weren't tested, just know they weren't listed when discussed.

if it's a public record, would you be kind enough to post the names?

and i know someone will ask, were alex cousino, destiny madrid and TW on DNA list?

it is a matter of course to print anyone who was present at crime scene. likely DNA swabs taken also (clarkes).

If memory serves, LE testimony at, I believe Pettaway's trial, was that more than 30 DNA samples were collected from various individuals who were, presumably, possible suspects.

They also took numerous samples from family members of the victims and others who would have been in/at the Straub's home legitimately (LE, paramedics, etc...hell, maybe even the mailman) in order to eliminate their DNA (if any were found) from the suspect samples.

A long list of names was given, but very quickly, so I wasn't able to note them all, but I'm certain that AC, DM, TW and every other person ever mentioned here were swabbed.

Personally, even though some have taken issue with the investigation, I feel confident that with three unidentified samples from the crime scene, the detectives obtained DNA from anyone and everyone whose name surfaced during their investigation. Even the most incompetent detective (and these detectives are first-rate IMO) would have done so.

And to Duchess, as LC said, and as the detectives and prosecutors assured the families, the case is far from closed. However, without any new evidence surfacing, I don't know if there's an active investigation. The likelihood may be that until the others involved are arrested for a felony (which triggers a DNA sample being obtained), we may not know who they are. On the bright side, anyone living the life that had them involved in this crime is certain to be arrested at some point. Maybe next week, maybe 20 years from now, but eventually.

I want to caution that these names were during cross of Det K when defense was reviewing list of names analyzed for dna...often Det K couldn't remember who they were so answered I don't know or not sure - it wasn't entirely clear but seemed that the Det's answers were to the question of why the individual was tested and not answering if they were tested, and the list the defense was reading from was of those that were tested
Here's the list I have, just putting initials for some:
Anthony Watson & Chris Watson, AP, TW, ZB, RB (ZB's mom), Sharita, DC, Joe Cutcher, AN (AW & CW's mom), RR (johnny's friend), Andrew W (guy that picked TW up for AP on 130 to take to ZB's house), William B, Alex Cousino, Alexis K (JH gf - called him person of interest), DS (female), Amy T, Eric T, YG, LP (female), Starla, JB, MS (related to Sam), CA (cousin of Sam), SR (Cameo's gf), MD (close friend of Sam), TM (mother of one of Cameo's children), Destiny M (gf of Sam at the time), AP (female friend of Sam & Cam), WH, Alej. P (knew Cam, Sam, Alex C), LG (cousin to Sam), MW (mother of Cameo's children), EL (female acquaintance of Cam)
