The nudists aren't giving up without a fight, damn it!!! I really wish not being able to wander around nude was my biggest concern in life.
Hell, if it weren't for the negative impact on businesses, WGAF if they're naked? It's San Francisco, naked people aren't the most controversial thing on display. But, their presence in front of Castro restaurants and shops does deter business and that's not fair to the business owners. That's a major reason that the ban was passed.
It seems like this nudist group whose lawyer is tying up the court to appeal the public nudity ban (or collect on a civil suit for violation of freedom of expression) is comprised of just a handful of people. I've only ever seen the same few of them out and about. It's been freakin' freezing here in the mornings, but the two devoted crusaders pictured below still protested outside the federal building yesterday for their rights to mosey about without having to cover their "genitals, perineum, and anal regions".
The judge is expected to respond to the request to overturn the ban by end of the month. If the appeal doesn't pan out, the new public nudity ban goes into effect Feb. 1st.
