I have a friend who refuses to go on carnival rides for exactly that reason. She doesn't think rides that are so frequently taken down & put back up are safe.

Fat operators are safer than skinny ones. Fat operators usually blow their money on weed & carnie food, skinny operators have more of a taste for coke & heroin.
