Three freed from imprisonment in London ‘lived entire life in servitude’
#1
In today's day and age, you've just got to say wow. Just fucking wow. It's going to be similarly interesting to watch the details unfold in this one as it was with the Ohio women.

How the fuck can not one, but two people do this to three other people for such a long period of time without one turning on the other?

A man and woman in their 60s have been arrested after police freed three ‘highly traumatised’ women thought to have spent the last three decades imprisoned in a south London house.

The arrested pair, both 67, were detained at their house following an investigation into slavery and domestic servitude after a call to police from the Freedom Charity.

It is thought one of the three women held captive contacted the charity, which supports women forced to marry against their will and victims of honour-based violence, after seeing a TV documentary about forced marriages in the summer.

The women, a 69-year-old Malaysian woman, a 57-year-old Irish woman, and a 30-year-old British woman, have been taken to ‘a place of safety’ after their rescue this morning.

‘We started in-depth to talks to them when they could, it had to be pre-arranged. They gave us set times when they were able to speak to us,’ Aneeta Prem, founder of the Freedom Charity, told Sky News.

‘It was planned that they would be able to walk out of the property. The police were on standby.’

‘We applaud the actions of Freedom Charity and are working in partnership to support these victims who appear to have been held for over 30 years,’ said Detective Inspector Kevin Hyland of the Metropolitan Police’s human trafficking unit.

‘We have launched an extensive investigation to establish the facts surrounding these very serious allegations.

‘A television documentary on forced marriages relating to the work of Freedom Charity was the catalyst that prompted one of the victims to call for help and led to their rescue.’

Although there is no evidence of sexual abuse connected to the case, it is thought the youngest woman has been in ‘servitude’ for her entire life.

She and the others, none of whom are related, had limited freedom and virtually no contact with the outside world for the last 30 years.

It is understood the 67-year-olds arrested were the ‘heads of the family’ and that the three freed women were ‘absolutely terrified of them’.

‘I don’t believe the neighbours knew anything about it at all,’ Ms Preem added.

‘It was just an ordinary house in an ordinary street. They were very restricted on everything they could do. We absolutely thrilled this has happened.’

Scotland Yard said while they had investigated cases of imprisonment before, this was the first time they had come across people held for ‘such a considerable length of time’.
