24-year-old Gypsy Blancharde took a plea deal and got 10 years for having her scheming scamming mother killed by her boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn (he's awaiting trial).
Dee Dee Blancharde had forced her daughter Gypsy to keep her head shaved, be confined to a wheelchair, and fake terminal illnesses her whole life in order to scam people out of money. Gypsy's father did not live with his daughter. He claims that he was completely fooled by Dee Dee's charade and always believed his daughter had the mental capacity of a 4 or 5 year old. He is supportive of Gypsy and has visited her in prison.
An HBO documentary on the case premieres on Monday, May 15th. According to filmmakers, many disturbing details and communications between the trio will be revealed for the first time. It appears they are portraying Dee Dee as someone who had an extreme case of Munchausen by Proxy.
