I'm not sure that extremely wealthy people are the only ones outside of the political establishment who deserve a fair shot at running for President. To me, that would not likely alleviate the problem of too much money influence in politics, it would just transfer it.
I'd rather see campaign finance reform which levels the playing field for any qualified candidate, regardless of his/her net financial worth. I think overturning Citizens United and loosening the presidential debate participation bar, for example, would really help end the two-party monopolization and minimize big money + special interest control of our political process.
