So, Republican reps met with the President and explained the reality of the situation, after which Trump agreed to accept $1.3 billion in border security funding..........a deal which was agreed to by all Republicans, all Democrats, and all Independents in Congress. Yet another government shutdown would therefore be avoided.
But...........Trump again welched on his agreement after right-wing talking heads Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, Laura Ingraham and the House Freedom Caucus expressed their outrage at the news; they were aghast that the President wasn't doing whatever necessary to get funding for The Wall before the Dems take over the House in early January.
And, of course, Trump and McConnell are blaming the Democrats for the shutdown, despite Trump's previous insistence that he owned it and wouldn't blame the Dems, and despite the fact that the $5 billion demand couldn't even get 50 votes in the Republican-majority Senate.
Senator Rand Paul, who supports Trump's troop withdrawal, is among those who voted 'no' on the $5 billion -- he will not support that funding when the government is now trillions of dollars in debt.
