Saying I checked on HotD sounds kinda creepy, maybe I should have clarified. I know the town she lives in so I checked the vicinity of the dam in regards to that.

The dam in question is about 150 miles northeast of me, but it's a big deal for the residents within a hundred miles of there.

For years and years, authorities have known that dam was weakening. Now they're in panic mode and have erected emergency patches to try to keep it from bursting and flooding thousands of people. Kinda pisses me off.

Anyway, I hope the recent patches can withstand the storm that's just setting in. After 5 gorgeous sunny days, it's raining like cats and dogs again and expected to continue for a while.
