Your Christmas is not lost. The step parents are. The children will be children no matter what and I have gone through crap like that with my own Daughter. She is doing well now but she knows she cannot move in with me. She has learned the lesson of putting her kids first and is doing much better.
I'm sorry you have to deal with idiots but try and look at some kind of bright side. Teenagers are tough as they adjust into an adult world and they need guidance and patience. Then they leave not even knowing how much you care or how much you have sacrificed. Its how it is quite a bit. They will remember later though and regret what they did. I have on many an occasion.
