Actress and socialite Zsa Zsa Gabor remained hospitalized Sunday morning as doctors prepared to perform an operation to reattach a tube in her stomach that had come loose, causing bleeding.
Gabor's husband, Prince Frederic von Asshole, said she had been given strong antibiotics to control an infection in her stomach so that the tube can safely be reattached, and that her blood pressure had gone down.
The actress, although unable to move or speak, has been able to open her eyes and squeeze her husband's hand, said Von Arsehole, who spent the night at the hospital with his wife.
"She's a big fighter," he said. "... I always feel optimistic, because I know her."
Doctors expressed "guarded optimism" about Gabor's recovery although her condition was still critical, her publicist John Blanchette said.
The 94-year-old actress was rushed to the emergency room at UCLA Medical Center on Saturday morning after losing consciousness at her Bel-Air home. She had a high fever and was suffering internal bleeding.
