It's been eight long years since 6-year-old Timmothy Pitzen's mother took him out of school and killed herself in a hotel room, leaving a note claiming the boy will never be found.
The boy's father and family continues to hold out hope that he's still alive. Late last week,Timmothy's family had their hopes heightened and then deflated when a young man wandering the streets in Ohio claimed to be Timmothy Pitzen.

The young man, Brian Rini ^, said he'd been held captive and forced to have sex with men until he was able to escape.
LE took his story and, though the young man looked older than 14, they ran a DNA test to see if it matched Timmothy's. It did not.
Rini is actually a 23-year-old ex-con who's twice made false claims to police that he was a child sex-trafficking victim. He says he saw a story about Timmothy's case on 20 / 20 and pretended to be him in order to escape his own family.
Rini now faces up to eight years in prison for making the false claim. In my opinion, psychiatric institutionalization is probably more appropriate.
