I think I read that around 40% of the population (give or take) were concerned about the data gathering. Out of that, I betcha less than .05% care enough to actually get out there and protest.
We're an apathetic nation. I vote, I sign the occasional petition but despite my disagreements with certain government activities, nothing yet has compelled me to hit the streets. I have a comfy life (despite paying an absurd amount in taxes) so I don't have any burning complaints that drive me to do more than I already do.
The closest we had to major protests was Occupy Wall Street which irritated the fuck out of me. I'm glad those crazies finally found their way back to the shelters. Assholes.
