He lost some of the black vote in the last election; he got 96% of the black vote in the first one. He still got more than 90% of the black vote in 2012 though.
Obama managed to attract about 70% of the Hispanic vote. That was critical to his victory. I think that has to do more with his social policies and views than the color of his skin, personally.
The Hispanic vote is really key -- they have a high percentage of Independents who could swing either way.
I think its interesting, and should be concerning to the vastly white Republican party, that more non-whites are hitting the polls whilst the percentage of whites who vote is decreasing. For the first time in history in 2012, a higher percentage of both black and Hispanic populations voted as compared to the percentage of the white population.
