^ I read the other day that the boy in the OP story is mad at his parents and says the girls are his "friends" and he still likes them, so he wants the charges dropped. His dad told reporters that his son's condition is obviously worse than he'd thought and that they are moving forward with the charges.
Here's one about a couple of abusive male teen-aged assholes. One of them is 14 and the other is 15. 14 is the minimum age to try a juvenile as an adult in California. The story doesn't mention anything about whether prosecutors are considering pushing the two SOBs to adult court or not, but I bet they will.

Police told the station someone over 18 rented the room for the underage teen (HOTD: the adult who rented that room should face at least obstruction charges if the adult was knowingly hiding the fugitive teen).
The arrest warrant alleges attempted murder, burglary and torture, Evans told the Press-Enterprise , noting the 14 year-old boy had extensive contacts with police in the past involving curfew issues and crimes.
