KFC comes out smelling like a rose, whether the investigation verifies or instead debunks grandma's claims. They donated to the little girl's recovery when they didn't have to do so -- they could have waited til the grandma's claims were investigated fully.

If grandma's story was bullshit, will she be prosecuted for fraud? IDK, but I think authorities would have a strong case against her if they chose to pursue it. Will people who donated ask for their money back? (I'd rather see a bank employee be appointed to manage the fund with all monies going only to Victoria's medical bills.)
I doubt KFC would try to sue grams for slander or anything like that though, despite reported backlash from the story aimed at their employees and franchise -- can't get blood from a stone and KFC managed to turn the initial negative exposure into good PR anyway, IMO. But, if grandma's claims turn out to be false, I hope KFC makes it clear in their public statements that the donation was given to Victoria for her medical expenses (in this exceptional situation), and that the franchise won't hesitate to take legal action against those making false claims against them in the future. Otherwise, I could see some assholes actually hurting their kids and making bogus discrimination claims in hopes of a quick payout.
