My son is driving now. It is so nice not to have to fucking run him to Subway if he wants a sandwich or something. The only problem is, my husband and I can't come to terms on a car so he's borrowing mine...a lot.

You should make him pay for it. He's living at your house for free already. How the hell will he survive on his own if you get him everything?

Honestly, on the priority ladder my daughter is so far up there (as far as being a cause and concern) that my son gets a lot of love but not a ton of parenting attention if you KWIM.

However, despite being told it wasn't going to happen, he actually held out hope that he'd get a car for Christmas. My husband and are both saying that's not going to happen--he's gotta earn it. But this is his last semester of senior year and his counselor fucked up and didn't have him take enough classes over the past year (I was sitting there when she told him to take 5 classes first semester) and now he's behind on credits. The priority for him is to get his grades up, somehow make up the missing classes (either online or his new counselor said he could take a night course at the local community college) and graduate. From then on he starts working. Hopefully full-time this summer (no school interference) and beyond. We may help him out as long as he's enrolled full time in college (and doing well) but no school, you're working, paying rent and/or getting the fuck out. Reality is going to hit him all in one, fell swoop. He doesn't have any money to pay me now but I make him run errands for me, walk the dog...do shit that I don't want to do.
