Mannafort is a swamp rat, but he is just one of many and there are plenty on both sides of the political divide.
I thought Mueller was investigating collusion with Russians to influence the 2016 election. NONE of these charges relate to that. Not saying he is not guilty or should not do time. Seems somewhat political and partisan. What inroads has Mueller made with the overwhelming evidence of collusion with the DNC and Hillary's campaign and Russian collusion and collusion with other foreign intelligence agencies? Any? Why is that?
