What should be done about the caravan of people coming to the U.S.
#96
The latest tactic in the migrant fear-mongering by some Republicans and FOX is underway.

“Will Migrant Caravan Kill Your Child—With Disease?” -- that's the title of an article from this weekend in the right-wing magazine The New American.

FOX then, of course, tackled the question on-air yesterday with guests who claimed that non-existent and eradicated diseases could be brought to the US by the migrants. https://www.thedailybeast.com/fox-news-c...ed-in-1980

The same tactic has been used by the anti-immigrant right in the past. In 2014, they claimed that Central American migrants could cause an Ebola outbreak in the U.S. However, not a single case of Ebola has broken out in Central America.

"Mostly criminals', "criminal invaders", "pawns of Democrats and Soros looking to take over America", "a threat to children's lives"...

W. Bush and Obama were miracle workers, I guess. Somehow they managed to deal with large numbers of Central American and Mexican migrants crossing our borders without the country falling apart.

They managed to do so without separating migrant children from their non-criminal migrant parents, without demonizing the migrants, and without presenting migrants and asylum-seekers as diseased invaders operating under an evil plot to take over America devised by the opposing party and funded by a Jewish mega donor.

Maybe Trump should reach out to previous presidents for some advice. Or, he could just keep the fear-mongering conspiracy theories churning in hopes of driving more of his core base to the polls for the midterms.
