Fortunately, in accordance with the Constitution, the U.S. Criminal Justice system (with all its flaws) provides suspects the presumption of innocence and a fair trial.

Proclamations of guilt by pompous dipshits who habitually insist their opinions are facts are legally irrelevant, as is the collective court of public opinion (especially the opinions of those members of the public who have no chance of being considered for a U.S. jury).

Anyway, back to the case itself........................since Smollett is thus far refusing to pay the City of Chicago and planning to fight the suit against him, the public will likely hear more facts of the case in civil court (where the burden of proof is lower than criminal court).

I won't be too surprised if Smollett changes his mind and settles before it gets that far, but we'll see.

Some dipshits do not know what they "know". For example, the Chicago police and FBI, Through meticulous investigation were able to confidently claim that this was fraud and perpetuated by Smollet himself, a rich, well-connected, gay, black man.

The degree of certainty to both authorise and make this claim (and then press this further with damages claim, et al) has to be rock solid.

Bleach freezes at the temperature of that night, they have the brothers, the cheque, the videos before and after, phone records, the letter, they have everything. They had their ducks in a row. It was not up for serious contradiction.

It was not that there were doubts, flaws or anything to do but prosecute. That is the truth of it. Jussie was protected.

So in this instance, YOU are the pompous dipshit and we only need to see you rail against Conservatives/religious for wanting to restrict women's bodily autonomy or whatever, when you know those groups ACTUALLY want to preserve babies lives, to see the very example of YOU passing off YOUR opinions as facts.
