I actually mostly agree (hating finding common ground with you and on something so terrible). Having said that states are made up of people and each state has its own culture and norms.
States should make decisions on the will of their constituents. Abortion ought to be part of that conversation
Democrats really gave up agency of any part in the discourse when they talked of killing babies in and out of the womb. They left the table for others.
