A brief educational moment concerning later term abortions
Some liberal states place no restrictions on abortion outside a doctor's determination of fetal viability (which may include viability requiring medical assistance) outside the womb.  Other conservative states place a lot of restrictions on abortion after the first trimester, positioning the restrictions as being based on risks to the pregnant woman's health.

Right now, the extremists/absolutists on both sides are pushing the envelope.  Some liberals want the pregnant woman's right to choose to be absolute up until the point of viability.  Some conservatives contend that life begins at conception and want a fetus to be regarded as an individual person with a Constitutional right to life (thus asserting that abortion is murder, regardless as to viability of the fetus outside the womb and regardless as to whether the impregnation was a result of rape or incest).

In any case, most of the country supports keeping Roe v Wade in effect and see it as a sound compromise.  More liberal states are fighting to protect Roe V Wade and strengthen the woman's right to privacy and choice without government interference.  And, some conservative states, particularly Alabama, are violating Roe v Wade in hopes of pushing cases up to the current Supreme Court in order to get Roe v Wade overturned or severely restricted.
