My father's family was Jewish so I've always been at least peripherally aware of the Holocaust. I remember reading The Diary of a Young Girl in elementary school and finding the whole thing terrifying.
A couple of good twitter accounts to follow to at least acknowledge the needless and horrifying deaths of all those people are:
https://twitter.com/AuschwitzMuseum
https://twitter.com/HolocaustMuseum
The first one posts photos of prisoners and their length of stay... which usually ends in death and is a month or two at most after their imprisonment.
And while I'm on my soapbox, you should check out "The Report" on amazon. It's about how we were all deceived by the CIA on their torture aka enhanced interrogation technique. It's not partisan, it paints the Bush and the Obama administration as collaborators in the deceit. I'm deeply ashamed of my country and of humanity in general.
