Typical for NPD (narcissistic personality disorder) with delusions of grandeur.
Although an NPD might SAY at some point 'I'm just an average/regular person', they don't really believe it, and expect people to disagree with them. One of the biggest insults you could ever give to an NPD is to call them 'average'. They always consider themselves to be 'better' than everyone else, and 'special' (usually in multiple ways). :
