Now that the Cape Cod Bear has moved on, Cape Cod can prepare for its latest animal visitor β great whites.
Cape Cod Shark Hunters spotter pilot George Breen saw two sharks during a routine survey flight yesterday. One shark was seen about a half mile offshore, while the other was just 50 yards from land.
βHe was a big one and he was chasing seals,β Breen said of the 16-foot great white.
Breen has taken about a half dozen survey flights in the past two weeks to determine whether the great white sharks are back in the area.
Last week, the Chatham harbormaster told the Herald that sharks tagged last year had returned to the area, about a half mile offshore.
