VANCLEAVE -- Jackson County Sheriff Mike Byrd has confirmed that search teams have found the remains of what they believe to be a missing Alabama boy.
A search began early this morning with teams forming lines and walking through thick brush just north of Vancleave.
Shortly after 10 a.m., searchers found what they believe are the remains of 3-year-old Chase.
Several teams were involved in the search which was successful in finding human remains, believed to belong to missing 3-year-old Chase DeBlase of Alabama. Chase's sister Natalie, 5, is still missing and believed to have been buried near Citronelle, Alabama.
The father told Mobile authorities about where to find the child, about 30 feet off Mississippi 57 north of Vancleave. John DeBlase was in the area at one point to help authorities find the body of his son.
A Belgian malinois, Valor, and dog handler Judy Roe with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Flotilla, found the remains this morning. Valor is trained in remains detection.
According to authorities, the child, wearing only a diaper, was placed in garbage bag sealed with red tape. DeBlase told Mobile authorities he buried the child on Father’s Day.
