COLORADO CITY — With a throng of journalists recording every move, residents in this town of about 4,500 people came together Sunday afternoon to honor the life of 13-year-old Hailey Darlene Dunn, whose remains were found in March after she was reported missing Dec. 28, 2010.
More than 350 people of various ages and dress came to Colorado Middle School, where Hailey was an eighth-grader, cheerleader, athlete and band member.
Based on the memories teachers, friends, family and others shared, Hailey made an indelible mark on those around here.
“She was crazy,” said Kathryn Willburn of Hailey, who the current seventh-grader knew through sleepovers at friend Heather Ruth’s house. “She’d always make us laugh. She was random. She’d come up with the funniest things that weren’t even part of the conversation. She knew what she wanted and she’d say it to a person.”
Although she was escorted in and out of the funeral, Hailey’s mother, Billie Jean Dunn, talked about her daughter twice only through recorded video presentations.
“Hailey, I love you and will see you again,” Billie Dunn said. “And, until I see you again, I’ll think of you every day.”

Mama Billie Jean attended, but only spoke via pre-recorded messages? Might that be because she continues to incriminate herself in attempting not to incriminate herself every time she opens her lying* mouth or makes a post? Attorney Young's advice?
*Note: for those newer to the case, Billie Jean Dunn was arrested and convicted of lying to police (she attempted to hide the Person of Interest in her daughter's disappearance when police came to her house with a search warrant).
