iraqi dinars could be property of a collector, i understand other currencies were there as well. perhaps a family member was in military as you surmised, i don't know at this time.
i have some dinars that a Marine nephew who was over there sent me for curiosity sake.
i don't know if Jeff Straub in your link is any relation.
Unknown will speak to question(s) if he wishes, he gave his hypothesis, and did not use names to accuse anyone. unlike at some other sites where people are being openly accused and named. (when LE names someone, that's fair game.)
as far as forced entry, i believe the police thinking is that the killer(s) entered through an open garage as opposed to breaking in, which would explain no footprints in snow around house (according to some reports).
the other details i cannot answer since there have been no official answers forthcoming. this does not say whether the mom or cousin went in house.

Johnny's parents went to the home. "There's a back window but the blinds are closed but they're just cracked enough where you can look down in them.My husband looks in. He says he sees Johnny's cell phone like in one corner in the room and then my little cousin is looking in and she says she sees my son there tied up."
