Usually they are paid by the Funeral Home. I honestly do not
think I have ever been to a funeral that did not have the escort.
Sometimes they even stop traffic to allow the procession to
pass in one long line.
Were in the Hell do you live?!?
I live in Toledo. I've been to a number of funerals & I think one time a funeral that I attended had a police escort & I assume it was because it was an extrememly large procession for a girl I was in H.S. with who died of natural causes. I also attended a funeral for a kid in the neighborhood I knew who was shot & killed & he didn't have a police escort but his funeral procession wasn't as long. None of my family members have ever had a police escort for their funerals.
usually the funeral homes can round up an escort .. they aren't actual LE/police officers though. The only LE escort I've ever seen, is for other officers, when they die, or any type LE personnel.
