She was frantic for different reasons in each call I imagine? Again the reason I suspect she was frantic (as you put it) has to do with the fact that she was told her son sounded like he may be in trouble, and her calls to him were not being answered. Couple this with what she may have been told about T's associations, and there is more than enough reason to be highly concerned.
Edited to add, Maytee may have known about Lisa's X, and had been concerned for that reason as well. IF the X did this, he had to have had a gun in order to control the couple. But, how would the X have known the family was out of town? I think that's a key element.
