SO glad I devoted 13 years of my life to wiping old butts!I will agree it doesn't take a genius to do the work & there are some bad apples. There are also some people who have really big hearts & love what they do. I got out of that because I wanted better & am capable of better. The pay sucks for the mentally draining & physically hard work that is required. Not to mention, stnas obviously get no respect
On another note, you'd be surprised who they give nursing degrees to. I've worked with plenty that were drug addicts or who could probably apply for & recieve SSI for being mentally defective.
I totally agree, CNA's and STNA's definitely get a bad rap, when they're the ones that do the job that no one else wants to do. Believe me, I'm in nursing school right now, so I'm essentially a butt wiper at this point and I'm so glad that I'll pass the torch some day. The academic side of nursing school is so rigorous I just can't see TW and her piss poor grammar getting very far. I'd love to see T address a patient as "my nigga" or "dys bytch". Although, in Toledo, it might be well received.:O
